Another classic in Japanese cooking, which can also be found in many different versions, especially when it comes to the sauce, which is something every chef in Japan has their own version of. For 10 pcs what you need is:
1 kg minced pork 8-12 %
2 large onions
3 dl panko
160 ml of milk
2 teaspoons of salt
Pepper according to taste
4 æg
Oil for frying
Sauce (the amount is for 5 steaks, so the following needs to be made twice):
100 ml of water
1 dl of ketchup
30 ml Bulldog Worcester Sauce
Side dishes: Rice with boiled potatoes, carrots, and green beans
Peel and chop the onions as finely as possible:
Put some oil on a frying pan and heat it at medium high heat:
Fry the onions until they are clear, they cannot turn brown:
When they are clear, let them cool off. Prepare a bowl for the other ingredients. First, knead the meat well with salt:
Add panko, milk, fried onions, eggs, and pepper:
Knead everything thoroughly:
Place alu foil or a cutting board on the table, and shape the mix into 10 steaks:
Put oil on the pan and heat it at medium heat:
Place 5 steaks on the pan and fry them for 7-8 minutes:
When they have changed colour underneath, they're flipped and fried on the other side:
When both sides have fried to a good colour, add 100 ml of water and put a lid on the pan:
Steam the steaks until the water is almost gone. Remove the steaks from the pan and add the ingredients for one serving of sauce. Let it simmer until it has the right texture:
Place a steak with side dishes on a plate and add a suitable amount of sauce on top. If you don't want to use the pan for it, you can just mix ketchup and Worcester Sauce according to taste. Enjoy!
