Here is a really delicious vegetarian dish, which we are sure everyone will love. It's healthy and light, and it's also easy to cook. What you need is:
1 pack of House Tofu Firm
20 gr of butter
30-50 ml of Mizkan Oigatsuo Tsuyu according to taste
1/2 large spoon of soy sauce
1 handfull of Katsuobushi Bonito flakes
Some chopped spring onion for garnishing
Tofu has a very light taste, so for Danish palates you might want to add a little more tsuyu. We prepared the dish for the whole family, so the frying pictures show twice the amount of ingredients.
Start with the tofu pack:
Remove the foil by making a small cut at the edge, drain the water away, and dry the tofu well with a piece of kitchen paper. Cut the tofu in pieces about 1.5 cm wide, and then cut them all in half. Then you should have something that looks like this:
Prepare the remaining ingredients:
Melt the butter in a large frying pan at medium heat, and place the tofu steaks on the pan:
We recommend that you don't put them too close to each other, like we did, because you need experience with handling tofu to make sure they don't break. It's better to use two pans, or prepare the dish twice.
Fry the steaks at medium high heat until they're golden, make sure to turn them over frequently and that all pieces are fried evenly. It takes around 15-20 minutes:
When they are done, turn off the heat and add the tsuyu and soy sauce. Flip the pieces over a few times until they are all fully covered by the sauce. Turn the heat back on and fry for another minute or so on both sides.
Now you can set the dish on a suitable plate, you need 5-6 pieces per plate, placed like dominos, and bonito flakes and chopped spring onions are used for garnishing. On the side you can serve freshly cooked rice, and preferably a bowl of misoshiru (miso soup). Enjoy!
